The Painful CRB Blacklist Revisited

In the recent past, Kenyans have suffered the negative effects of being listed on the credit reference bureau even for kshs 1000 or less in loan default. This denied youths chances for employment and loan facilities.

However, borrowers defaulting on loans of less than Sh5 million will not be blacklisted at the credit reference bureaus (CRBs) while those already blacklisted will be dropped in a bid to cushion businesses recovering from Covid-19 hardships.
President Uhuru Kenyatta Wednesday announced the suspension of CRB listing for loans that were defaulted from last October and the relief from blacklisting will last to September 2022
The CRB listing relief is part of a stimulus package to cushion distressed businesses and families from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, which have hit consumer demand and forced businesses to shed jobs and cut back their operations.
Borrowers reported to one of Kenya’s three credit bureaux, got their chances of being able to borrow more.

Ruto’s smart speech during Mashujaa day celebrations

As Kenya celebrated Mashujaa day on 20th Oct, people were very eager to hear what the leaders would say regarding their quest for power less than one year to the 2022 general elections, not forgeting that this was an event that brought all of them together in quite a long time.
The leaders have not had a promising relationship because they have been holding individual centered rallies, where each one of them uses their platform to uncover their competitors’ weaknesses and wrongdoings. Many people did not even envision a day with all protocols observed because it had not been happening in the recent past.
Inspite of all the different expectations, all protocols were observed and everyone had their role in celebrating the heros they owe allegiance to.
In his short speech when he was invited to welcome the President, the deputy president, Dr. William Samoei Ruto, acknowledged the good and reputable job H.E. president Uhuru Kenyatta had done with sweet and juicy words no one had mentioned before him in the event.
He also tactically mentioned his quest to succeed president Kenyatta after his term comes to an end in 2022. He said….. (paraphrased) I also would like to continue where you will leave your hard work, transforming the country in a combination of your big four agenda and my bottom up approach.
Whether it was because of the visiting Malawian president and her first lady or because of the millions of Kenyans who were waiting for his speech, Dr. Ruto’s was a very smart speech.

No more Curfew

Due to the wake of Covid 19 and its arrival in Kenya in March 2020, the government has been prividing guidelines and measured to be followed to mitigate the spread and effects of the dealdly desease. Among the many measures are compulsory wearing of face masks, 1.5 metres social and physical distance, limitation of attendance of public meetings and religious gathering to 1/3 of the normal capacity and a dusk to dawn curfew that saw business people suffer especially conducting their day to day business.

In his speech during the Mashujaa day celebrations in Kirinyaga county on 20th Oct, H.E. the president Uhuru Kenyatta made an order to end the Nationwide dusk to dawn curfew that had been pushed forward so many times upon expiry. This however did not end other guidelines that had come with the curfew, such as the hours of operating in bars and restaurants.

Nevertheless, the move was welcomed by all kenyans and gave hope of a new begining and a reconstryction of the econony among other personal projects and businesses.
